And here it is. This is the difference between reality and illusion. We are those moments. They are gold which cannot be lost. Other things fall away, but every now and then we grasp something that will never change, and is as true and eternal and limitless for us as it was for Emerson. Or Plato. Or Jesus.
Our true selves are these golden truths, not the changeable rubbish we gain and throw away.
Because they are found within ourselves. They are not poured into our ear by someone else and we accept them as wisdom. No. They come from within, they cannot be denied, and we cannot pass them on in words. We can only shine a light on the path for others to follow, and maybe glimpse what we have seen.
