Hedonism, eh? If you think happiness = pleasure, then you may have missed my link to lotus-eating:
"A life spent in the pursuit of pleasure is a wasted life."
"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing," Viktor Frankl wrote in Man's Search for Meaning, "the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
Why would one one not choose happiness? Even in the most degrading and distressing circumstances, as Frankl found himself, he noted that this freedom was available, and he found ways to pass this on to those who otherwise gave up all hope.
May happiness and enlightenment be yours today, and always.
