I've heard this argument before. The view that the Sun revolves around the Earth is fine until a new model is presented, one which makes more sense.
When Copernicus came along, all the little quibbles about the planets making odd loops in the sky were resolved; they didn't, but they appeared to. Now we could see that it was just a function of our relative movements.
I think we're coming up for a paradigm shift on mind, body, and brain. The model we have is not good enough.
Incidentally, this sort of discussion also exposes deficiencies in our language. What, exactly, is meant by "mind", "person", "I" and so on?
