Most kind, Timothy! I could say the same about someone with a lifetime of service to the community. That's something that weighs strongly with me.
Your selection of books. I remember listening to The Grapes of Wrath driving along Route 66. And Larry McMurtry; one of America's greats. I have been to his amazing bookstore in Archer City three times now, including visiting the famous Dairy Queen each time. Once I and my companion sat alone in a vast room full of one of the most wonderful collections of books I have ever seen in my life, reading poetry to each other. Not another soul in the building. To buy our books we had to carry them across the street to the main shop.
Whenever I despair of America, I think about some of the values held by Americans. I've been to that calm and peaceful cemetery above Omaha Beach and reflected on these things a few times.
I tell myself that it's just a beach, long and wide, where people walk their dogs and in summer take a dip, but that isn't true. Like Gettysburg, those sands are consecrated.
Medium is a place where amongst the clutter, the things that matter shine through. Grace, certainly, but also wisdom, generosity, thoughtfulness, and love.
I can find all those things when I turn aside from the busy world and browse though Medium.
Thank you both for your service to the Medium community.
