The news of the California fires at the height of the Northern summer, six months after our own devastating Australian bushfires must surely be ringing the fire alarm bells.
The news was terrible here in Victoria; whole towns forced out by the onrushing fires, huddled against the ocean while the sky turned orange and their houses burnt.
In Melbourne, some way from the bushfires, the smoke was choking the city.
And now we see America covered in smoke and flame. Through the magic of the internet. Kind of ironic, but there it is; nobody ever said we were wise enough to cope with our inventions until we saw the damage they did.
May this grim news wake up more and more people, and may we all take action to avoid the onrushing disaster.
