Tyler, not talking about Trump in a current American political context is like talking about 1930s Germany without mentioning Hitler.
Trump's peculiar psychology skewed the GOP. His bizarre and chaotic projects distracted from whatever policy platform the Republicans had, apart from whatever Mitch McConnell was able to get through, such as the court-stacking you mentioned.
Be very clear: the GOP wasn't impeached. Trump was.That's a distraction from normal government processes.
Not to mention the current shambles, where the GOP is being pulled apart from within.
