What did it for me was Kavanaugh’s insistence that “boof” meant “fart”. He sent messages to his friends asking if they had farted yet???? Teenage boys fart constantly; the answer is always going to be yes. Nobody would ask such a question. But if the question means, have you fucked someone up the bum, then that’s something teenage boys would have keen salacious interest in.
I watched the testimony of both parties. Christine Blasey Ford struck me as someone telling the truth about a traumatic event. Brett Kavanaugh came across as somebody giving a rehearsed performance of how to avoid giving a straight answer.
The various defences of Kavanaugh also struck me as particularly “precious”. Make a study of sophistry, you soon learn to spot it in real life.
